Welcome to our new blog, Responsible Speech at HLS!
The mission of this blog is to provide a forum for students and other interested parties to discuss important but sensitive issues without fear of being labeled a bigot, sexist, cis sexist, racist, etc. This is a blog to engage on substantive debates of issues on the merits, without consideration to the race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation of the speaker. Our objective is to avoid any and all ad hominem attacks.
We recognize that many students do not desire to contribute publicly, for fear of social stigma should their views be interpreted as offensive. We are therefore allowing students the option to publish their views anonymously. We do require, however, that contributors comply with our Rules for Civil Discourse so that anonymity is not used to attack our fellow classmates.
We recognize the need for real and substantive dialogue at HLS. In our current environment, many of us do not feel that we can share our views openly. We hope that this blog will make it easier to engage in the difficult conversations we have both in class and on campus.
If you would like to contribute, please email your post (including its proposed title and your desired author’s “name”) to:

Our moderators will review the post to ensure compliance with our Rules of Civil Discourse and then publish it.
